Smartwool Gloves

Smartwool gloves are soft wool gloves that are made in men’s and women’s sizes. There are many different kinds of smartwool gloves, but they all share the fact that they are made from marino wool and are very warm and comfortable. Smartwool gloves are labeled as being smart for a reason. Studies in New Zealand showed that wool base layers were more effective in regulating body temperature than synthetic fibers.

Sometimes wool can be itchy, but not these gloves. They repel odors naturally and dry quickly so that there is no itchy irritation from them. Smartwool gloves are made in a single layer of marino wool, and many styles have ribbed cuffs for protection against the wind and snow. They can be hand washed in cold water and dried flat.

Smartwool gloves are made in may fashion styles in men’s and women’s sizes. Some are solid colors, but there are many prints such as floral and snowflake designs. Because they are so stretchy and mold to the shape of the hand, they are often made in one size that fits men or women. Wool gloves absorb dye very well so there are styles with vivid colors of turquoise, red, and others.

Smartwool gloves are also made in a style that is called a training glove. It is perfect for wearing to work because this style is warm, yet it is not bulky. The palm of the glove has silicone palm grippers that are good for holding on in the subway or bus, or for texting. This glove is 45% wool, 39% nylon, and 16% elastic.

If you live in a very cold area and plan to spend a substantial amount of time outside, it is a good idea to have a pair of Smartwool liner gloves handy. They can be worn alone, or you can layer up and wear them under another pair of gloves. They are 95% merino wool and 5% elastic for some stretch. Ribbed cuffs complete the glove liners.

Another warm version of Smartwool gloves is marled color merino wool that also has just a touch of elastic. They are a simple, basic glove that do what they are meant to do, and that is to keep your hands warm. They can be purchased in Earth color or black. The outer cuff of each glove has the Smartwool logo sewn on it. Inside, the gloves have a lining of terry loop for an extra cozy feel.

A deluxe pair of Smartwool gloves is called Stagecoach Gloves. The main part of the gloves is made of merino wool, and the palm and cuff are made of smooth leather. The combination of the two fabrics produces a very nice appearance in the gloves. The cuffs have elastic to keep the cold winter air out. This glove is made in medium grey with black leather palms and cuffs.
